According to the CDC (2011) more people die from injuries each year than from any other cause.  Injuries are the leading cause of death for people of all ages and cost more than $406 billion annually in medical care and lost productivity. To aid in injury-prevention efforts, the North Region EMS & Trauma Care Council (NREMS) provides grant funding for community-based injury-prevention projects.
